Applicants to this course should hold a GPHC recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification. Students on the preparatory year will study alongside students on other Science and Health level 0 foundation years. For this reason you may see the preparatory year also referred to as a 'foundation year'. The preparatory year of the programme provides students with a thorough and supportive academic preparation for successful degree-level study in the School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery. On successful completion of the preparatory year, you will progress to Pharmacy MPharm. **The University of Sheffield is working towards accreditation of this programme with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). The programme will be provisionally accredited until the accreditation process is complete. After being awarded your MPharm degree, you will need to complete a 12-month structured foundation training period and assessment, leading to registration as a Pharmacist with the GPhC.**
The requirements for entry are different from those for students wishing to enter directly onto a degree programme elsewhere in the University. As well as meeting the standard Foundation Year eligibility requirements, applicants to this programme must hold GCSE grade 4/C (or equivalent) in Maths and English language. Applicants to this course should hold a GPHC recognised Pharmacy Technician Qualification. Potential applicants holding equivalent qualifications gained overseas should contact us for clarification of eligibility. Applicants will also be required to demonstrate knowledge of scientific method and principles, either by prior level 3 science qualifications, or by performance in an online test. You must demonstrate that your English is good enough for you to successfully complete your course. For this course we require: GCSE English Language at grade 4/C; IELTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.5 in each component; or an alternative acceptable English language qualification
