An ideal springboard for a wide range of careers in industry, finance, data science, technology and research, this single-subject mathematics degree covers a broad spectrum of mathematics to an advanced level. Through core modules in algebra, analysis, applied mathematics and mathematical methods, you gain a strong foundation before building your degree to suit your interests by choosing from over 30 specialist modules. You will gain a solid grounding in advanced mathematics through the core modules taken in the first year and a half of the course. From this point onwards, you can begin to specialise in your areas of interest. The foundational knowledge provided by the core modules is the prerequisite for the choice of optional modules in the second half of the second year and the 30 or so options available in the third year. This course is offered as either a three-year BSc or a four-year MSci degree. The first two years of both courses are identical, and students are advised to apply initially for the MSci degree, as it is possible to transfer to the BSc during the first three years.
