**Course overview**\ Statistics play an essential role in data analytics, healthcare modelling, artificial intelligence and more. This accredited degree will prepare you for a career s a professional statistician. You’ll master the fundamentals of statistics and data analysis and study advanced techniques in probability and uncertainty modelling. You’ll also explore core areas of applied statistics. The course is designed to be flexible, so you can tailor your choice of optional modules to suit your interests and career plans. You can even choose other subjects, such as a language, that will broaden your skills and enhance your CV. As you would expect, there is an emphasis on mathematical concepts - but with a practical application, too. We believe in collaboration and that’s why our students, industry professionals and alumni joined forces with our dedicated staff to design degrees suitable for the real world. Our co-created curriculum is redefining studying maths. You’ll be based on our award-winning University Park Campus in the purpose-built Maths Building. You’ll learn from lecturers who are recognised experts in data analysis and modelling - and whose work directly feeds into the course. Through a combination of lectures, problem classes and tutorials, you’ll put the statistical and probability theory you’ve learned into practice. There are regular opportunities to work collectively with other students and academic staff to tackle complex problems from industry and academia. In addition, working in our dedicated computer labs will increase your familiarity with statistical software. Looking to expand your skills even further? You could get hands-on work experience through an optional placement year. No less than 6.0 in each element. As well as IELTS (listed above), we also accept other English language qualifications. This includes TOEFL iBT, Pearson PTE, GCSE, IB and O level English. Our Centre for English Language Education is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK. If you successfully complete your presessional course to the required level, you can then progress to your degree course. This means that you won't need to retake IELTS or equivalent.
