Develop your key skills and knowledge across our Engineering and Physical Science subjects as you decide which first-year course is right for you. We'll help you make the transition to university life, starting you on your journey in higher education and preparing you for exciting careers. If you don’t have the required qualifications for our undergraduate programmes, this Foundation Year will open the door to your future. You’ll build a broad knowledge base across science, engineering, computer science and mathematics. Study in degree-level labs and teaching spaces so you’re ready for the next step. With a strong emphasis on essential maths knowledge, you'll also take core modules in skills and scientific thinking. You can then choose which pathway you want to follow with more specialised content leading to progression to any of our undergraduate degrees in the college of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
A Level: BBB | Students taking A level Mathematics are not considered. General Studies is not considered. Minimum grade 6/B in GCSE Mathematics is required | T Level: M | Merit overall with core grade B. Must be in one of the following subjects: Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering & Manufacturing; Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control; Design and Development for Engineering & manufacturing | Access to HE Diploma | Access to HE Diploma | Access to HE Diploma | 60 credits overall with at least 45 at Level 3 out of which 30 are at Distinction. | International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme: 32 UCAS points | 5,5,5 at Higher Level with a minimum of 32 points overall. | Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016): DDD | BTEC Extended Diplomas will be considered in the following subjects: Applied Science, Engineering, Computing | Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (first teaching September 2015) | Accepted in place of a non-required A level with the equivalent grade. | Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal | Accepted in place of A levels with the following grade equivalencies: D2 = A*; D3 = A; M2 = B. The University will charge the maximum approved tuition fee per year. For the 2027 year of entry, we expect that the tuition fee for your first year of study will be £10,050. If Parliament agrees on an increase in tuition fees, the University will increase fees for each year of study normally in line with these changes and will communicate any change in the fees to you without delay.
