Our MSci Mathematics gives you the opportunity to take your passion for Mathematics to new heights. You will begin with a broad range of subjects then, in your fourth year, take on an individual project and experience the challenge and pleasure of mathematical research. You will benefit from the rich diversity of research interests among our world-leading experts here at Birmingham. The analytical and problem-solving skills you will learn will help you stand out in a highly competitive job market with our recent graduates securing positions in finance, management, computing and many other sectors including teaching and healthcare as well as many moving into research by taking higher degrees. The Mathematics MSci programme will give a sound mathematical basis in a broad range of subject areas, helping you learn to apply analytical, statistical and computational skills to formulate and tackle problems. We will support you to think logically, independently and imaginatively, equipping you to make the most of the opportunities ahead.
A Level: A*AA | A*AA including Mathematics or AAA including Mathematics and grade 2 in any STEP paper. A level Mathematics or Further Mathematics required. General Studies not accepted, but a grade A may be considered if you fail to meet your offer. | International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme: 32 UCAS points | 7,6,6 at Higher Level, including 6 in Mathematics, with a minimum of 32 points overall. | Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) | BTEC only considered when combined with other qualifications. | Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (first teaching September 2015) | Accepted in place of a non-required A level with the equivalent grade. | Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal | Accepted in place of A levels with the following grade equivalencies: D2 = A*; D3 = A; M2 = B. The University will charge the maximum approved tuition fee per year. For the 2027 year of entry, we expect that the tuition fee for your first year of study will be £10,050. If Parliament agrees on an increase in tuition fees, the University will increase fees for each year of study normally in line with these changes and will communicate any change in the fees to you without delay.
